HOW TO LIVE AN EMPOWERED LIFE


We hear those words often – an EMPOWERED LIFE – but what does that mean? And how can we get one?


Perhaps, the first step to understanding an EMPOWERED life is to understand that we are created to fully enjoy life; to experience all of the ups and downs and to learn how to navigate them.


We are here to learn, to grow, to make friends, fall in love and be loved. Just as we are!


An EMPOWERED life means having choices; having the ability to make decisions about our lives so we can have fulfilling, fun experiences and do what WE want to achieve our goals.


And that might be something new for those of us who have experienced trauma and abuse. We typically come out of those experiences feeling powerless.


But that’s not the truth! That’s just what we were taught to believe by our abusers.


WE ARE NOT POWERLESS! YOU ARE NOT POWERLESS!


One of the best ways to begin creating an EMPOWERED life is with a Gratitude Practice. Starting each and every day in gratitude -- writing down 10 things that you are grateful for will set the tone for the rest of your day.


Here’s how to start:


I am grateful for _ _ _ _ because _ _ _ _


When you’ve written the 10 things you’re grateful for, read them aloud to yourself and follow each one with, “Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.”


I’ve been writing in my gratitude journal for over 10 years and it has made a huge difference in my mindset. My days start with acknowledging all that I have that is good. It doesn’t leave much room for complaints!


A gratitude practice EMPOWERS us because we’re choosing our thoughts, our emotions and our mindset. We become the creators of our reality. Now that’s EMPOWERING!
